A new article "Can We Prevent an Ice-Free Arctic?" published by the Global Governance Forum, describes one of the methods of how Arctic ice can be preserved.

The author of the article, PhD student Jacob Pantling, stresses  the urgent need to address the rapid decline of Arctic sea ice due to climate change.

Pantling highlights that the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the global average, leading to profound ecological and geopolitical consequences. The loss of sea ice not only threatens Arctic wildlife and ecosystems but also impacts global weather patterns and sea levels.

The article discusses strategies to mitigate ice loss, and the author's experiences of his field trip to Cambridge Bay, Canada. He acknowledges that,

The people we spoke to were enthusiastic that we wanted to do something to protect their ice, and while they had many questions about how they and the local wildlife might be affected, it was clear they could also see potential benefits. Protecting the migration routes of caribou or their own travel routes across the ice—both of which are thinning rapidly—is as important to them as the global climate impact of restoring the Arctic ice.
