Yuvraj is an Engineering student who is looking at the the feasibility of using a UAV platform to measure vertical wind fluxes. This requires putting the probe on a boom such that it is sufficiently far from the UAV to avoid flow field disturbance. The noise from the UAV then needs to be isolated to avoid measurement error. There are variety of potential use cases for such a technology, such as measuring carbon fluxes into forests for verifying carbon credits or measuring the flow disturbance downstream from wind farms to determine how close together they can be spaced.
