The research project on placing underwater sea curtains to prevent the melting of glaciers have been featured in The Guardian Newspaper. Our director is quoted indicating: "Glaciers are affected by warmer air which melts their surfaces but they are also eroded at their bases by warm seawater”.

The article explores innovative measures to halt glacier melting, focusing on a proposed method involving underwater curtains. Scientists suggest deploying a barrier of vertical pipes to block warm water from reaching the glacier's base, thereby reducing melting. This technique aims to protect vulnerable glaciers like Thwaites in Antarctica. While promising, the plan faces logistical challenges and environmental concerns. Experts caution that such interventions should complement broader climate action efforts. The proposal highlights the urgency of finding inventive solutions to combat the effects of climate change on critical ice formations, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and sustainable practices.
