The top holiday destinations at risk of climate disasters, from wildfires to flooding

News

Our director Dr. Shaun Fitzgerald was recently interviewed by the inews about climate disaster in holiday destinations.

The newspaper indicated:

"Dr Shaun Fitzgerald, Director for the Centre for Climate Repair at Cambridge University and Director of Research at Cambridge Zero, said that the shifting climate would likely lead to a change in the popularity of tourist destinations, with travellers likely to increasingly seek out countries which won’t hit top temperatures.

“Hotter places may well get hotter. That will lead to changes not only in terms of what will be good holiday destinations, but bigger systems in place such as food production and agricultural practices. Previous tourist destinations may not be quite as appealing as destinations further north. But ultimately we don’t know: it’s quite difficult to predict,” he said."
