Geoff Green

Geoff is the founder and president of the Students on Ice Foundation. A trailblazer that has taken thousands of youth, educators, elders, leaders, scientists, media and artists from around the world on expeditions to the Arctic, the Antarctic, and remote places in between. 

Geoff is a respected and trusted leader, known as a connector and bridge builder with a visionary and creative spirit.  His experience across the circumpolar Arctic, Antarctica, and the global ocean is extensive and diverse. He has collaborated on numerous national and international projects in education, science, media, and conservation. He is an advisor to the Ocean Elders, Oceans 2050, Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition, and Global Environment Media. 

In 2017, Geoff led the historic Canada C3 expedition - a 150-day, 25,000km maritime journey around Canada’s coastline with the themes of youth, environment, truth & reconciliation, diversity & inclusion.  Geoff is the Chair Emeritus of the Ottawa Riverkeeper; a National

Council member of the Canadian Canoe Museum; and a director of the SmartIce Foundation.

  •      Selected as one of the top 100 Greatest Canadian Explorers.
  •      Bestowed the Inuktitut name “Pitsiulak” by the Commissioner of Nunavut 
  •      Appointed to the National Order of Québec.
